Galmpton |
| Galmpton
is a medium sized village close to Broadsands and Stoke Gabriel,
located en-route from Paignton to Brixham. The pretty Village has a
small group of shops and a lane which leads down to a Galmpton Creek, an
inlet off the River Dart. A Boat park is now where an old quarry
used to be, and Lime Kilns can still be seen in the area.
Agatha Christy was closely linked to the Primary School, which dates back to the 19th Century. She was a frequent visitor and was often asked to mark children's essays and stories. Our video shows the village as viewed from the school, you will see many of the village houses, an old windmill and the track which carries the steam trains through the village and on to Kingswear. Horses are frequently seen trotting through Galmpton, as there is a riding school here. The rural setting is ideal for wildlife with birds and rabbits in abundence.
